ISFJ / Pisces
Who is a Defender (ISFJ)?
Defenders are individuals with the Introverted, Sensing, Feeling and Judging personality traits. They tend to be humble, hard-working, and enthusiastic people who prefer to focus on the details, rather than the bigger picture. Emotionally orientated, defenders are sensitive to other people's feelings and have a deep understanding of their own.
They are natural healers, and there is no better shoulder to cry on when you just need to unload. They give the best advice, even if they don’t have direct experience with the problem in front of them. Their wisdom, imagination and empathy combine to make them absolute experts, and their perspective is highly sought after. Not only that, but they are also the ultimate cool-without-trying-to-be, and they somehow always know the best music, plays and TV shows before they become ubiquitous. Defender/Pisces feel a strong sense of responsibility and duty. They take their responsibilities very seriously, and can be counted on to follow through. For this reason, people naturally tend to rely on them. They have a difficult time saying "no" when asked to do something, and may become over-burdened. In such cases, they don’t usually express their difficulties to others, because they intensely dislike conflict, and because they tend to place other people's needs over their own. They need to learn to identify, value, and express their own needs, if they wish to avoid becoming over-worked and taken for granted.
Filled with great ideas, they might find it difficult to bring those ideas to fruition alone, but can excel when they take the role of teacher or role model. Because of their sensitive natures, they are a deeply compassionate.. When others around them suffer, they suffer too. This makes them naturally very kind people, and love to do charity work and help those who are less fortunate than they are. Defender/Pisces loves the universe and its creatures deeply, and their friends and loved ones will feel the benefits of their compassion and empathy. They usually listen more than they speak, preferring to keep the attention on others rather than themselves; they do not like to talk about their personal achievements and accomplishments and only share information only if there is a practical and useful reason to do so. As such, they come across as very private people. However, when they do share, they can recount incidents sometimes in extreme detail that some may consider them long-winded, but it is because they simply find it hard to summarize an incident in general terms. They also do not like to speak or share with big groups, preferring to deal with people on a one-to-one basis.
Defender/Pisces are devoted partners, and they tend to easily fall into caretaking roles. While they can be introverted and slow to warm up to large groups of people, they love staying up all night talking to their mates. They can be infinitely alluring, even after decades of being together. They are deep and complex, and to their partners, it may feel like they are always on the cusp of knowing them completely. It doesn’t matter that they’ll never get there, because the fun is in the trying.
The archetype of Defender/Pisces is dreamy and fluid, so it’s often shocking when they come at you with hard analysis. They are visionaries, which means they see things no one else can. You may never see their feedback coming, but you’ll realize later it was spot-on.
