Who is a Virtuoso (ISTP)?
Virtuosos are individuals with the Introverted, Sensing, Thinking and Perceiving personality traits. They tend to be tolerant, flexible and analytical people with an eye for detail. Known for their independence, virtuosos are often seen as observers who make decisions based on objective information, rather than personal beliefs.
Virtuoso/Taurus is generally quite stubborn in a lot of areas in their lives - they have a strong dislike for change, and once they settle down with their routines, it can take a great effort to get them to change. They are not just stubborn, but also strong willed. They tend to stick to their guns and be very methodical about their approach to actions. Many under this personality combo therefore are full of integrity. Their determination and diligence is also the reason that many of them find success - they are hard workers that don’t mind getting their hands dirty, and alway see that what they set out to do is completed. They are action-oriented people. They like to be up and about, doing things. They are not people to sit behind a desk all day and do long-range planning. Adaptable and spontaneous, they respond to what is immediately before them. They usually have strong technical skills, and can be effective technical leaders. They focus on details and practical things. They have an excellent sense of expediency and grasp of the details which enables them to make quick, effective decisions.
A Virtuoso/Taurus who is over-stressed may exhibit rash emotional outbursts of anger, or on the other extreme may be overwhelmed by emotions and feelings which they feel compelled to share with people (often inappropriately). Smart, ambitious, and trustworthy, they are amazing friends, colleagues, and partners. This searching personality is willing to see another point of view, but they won't flip-flop on an opinion just to make someone else happy. They will shift their thinking only if they truly have a change of heart. They are keenly observant people who are experts in the use of their five physical senses. They will make observations like small differences in taste, colour or texture which others may miss, but they won’t say them unless asked. They prefer to learn by doing and are often highly dexterous. It is hard for them to grasp theory or ideas without immediate application, and this is why they don’t perform as well in the classroom. They are excited by new experiences and like to immerse themselves fully in them.
With a Virtuoso/Taurus it may be a slower paced courtship than others at first. The foundation will take time to set. They usually take their time declaring their love, and the need to make sure of their feelings and the other person is quite strong. This is a good thing, as it ensures a high level of integrity. When your Virtuoso/Taurus tells you that they love you, you can rest assured that they mean it. Be prepared for a slow steady journey to intimacy as well. Not likely to just have casual one night stands, a Virtuoso/Taurus in love is quite traditional in seeking and maintaining intimate relationships, preferring to be in a committed union versus dating randomly and frequently. They are devoted and fiercely loyal to their partners. The flip side is that if they are betrayed, the level of hurt is very high and they are unlikely to forgive and forget easily.
They are very imaginative when it comes to practical things, mechanics, and crafts. Novel ideas come easily, and they love using their hands to put them into action. Combining spontaneity with logic, Virtuoso/Taurus can switch mindsets to fit new situations with little effort, making them flexible and versatile individuals. As easily as they go with the flow, they can also ignore it entirely, and usually move in another direction with little apology or sensitivity. If someone tries to change their habits, lifestyle or ideas through criticism, they can become quite blunt in their irritation.
